Bombolini filled with Vanilla Cream

Yes, this is a double whammy because you are getting another donut post.  After Tom laid praises on the Sweet Potato Donuts, I made the mistake of telling him, that the Bombolini would have been ten times better and he totally dared me to prove it.

He knows I cannot resist dates.  And I totally fell for it too.

I still stand behind my statement before that donuts are not one of my favorite sweets.  But the Bombolini holds a special place in my taste memory.

See, I have been eating these pillows of fried dough, filled with cream, since I can remember. In Venezuela, my mother would buy a big bag of them as a special treat from our local bakery as I was growing up.  My sister and I would gobble them up in seconds, licking our sugar-coated fingers and then wait patiently for the next special occasion to have them.

Tarte au Sucre [Sugar tart]

For the past 3 days I have been hooked to my computer.

As a junkie is to his drug of choice.

I have discovered the wonderful world of my Netflix “Watch instantly” option.

I have discovered MadMan.

I’m now an official Draper fan.

I cannot get enough of all those chain-smoking characters.

I watched season 1 and 2 and some of 3 in one sitting.

Tom was worried that my eyes were going to fall off.

ABC: Butterscotch Spiral Coffee Cake

I been so absent with the Avid Baker’s Challenge post, its a wonder that I have not be kicked out by our gracious host Hanaa.

But this weekend was long, it was raining outside, I had caught up with all of DVR viewing and I wanted a yeast cake and ABC choice was a Butterscotch Spiral Coffee Cake.

Butterscotch people!

As in gooey, caramel-y, sticky and sweet.  Pair it with a yeast cake filled with layers of butter and cinnamon, and the cake had me at “hello”.
