Chicken Surprise

I have been busy. Very, very busy.

I have not used my stove, oven or any kitchen stuff in five days.

I miss cooking.

Instead I’m packing and unpacking.

Did I evern mention how much I love travel, but hate packing?

But, tonight I will be packing again, this time I take off to the seas.  For the next 4 days I will on this ship.

It will be me and the best friend, and usually we party it up when we get together - Some mayhem is sure to occur.

Along with large amount of eating, drinking and reading.

My kindle is going too.

In the meantime, I totally forgot that I had this and had not share it with you.

Tom’s little man is half Filipino.  His mother’s family all come from that wonderful country consisting of a group of 7,107 islands off the mainland of Asia.  Did you know that the area occupied by the Philippines is slightly larger than the state of Arizona?

Wonderful what you can learn in geography class right?

So its no accident with so many outside influences during its history, the Philippine cuisine is a fascinating blend of Malay, Spanish and Chinese cultures. To the Filipinos, food is very important and integral part of local art and culture as well as communal existence.

So, when I was invited to the little man’s birthday party, I saw first hand how food brought them together as one single unit.

And the inaugural post for Gutsy Cooks Club has finally arrived!

A couple of months back I decided that I needed a kick in the butt with my savory cooking.  I was finding myself baking more and more, but my savory cooking was taking a back seat.  I needed an incentive, and thus the Gutsy Cooks Club was born.  As of today, we have a total of nine Gutsy Cooks and that talent pool is awesome, I can not wait to see what we cook up.

Some have been blogging for a bit, some started their blog when they joined us, but all of us have the same goal, to cook, learn and to share our experiences.  You can too, by going here and seeing the roll call and visiting each of their blogs.

The month of October menu was decided by yours truly, and I got to come clean. With over 1,000 recipes in The Illustrated Kitchen Bible Cookbook to choose from, it was HARD, very, very hard to narrow them down.  So I did the next best thing.  I simply closed my eyes, open a random page and picked by placing my finger in the page.  Where ever it landed, that was the recipe of the week.
